Formation
Cwmbran historical Society was formed in 2003 after two well attended public meetings, held at Cwmbran Library.
It was apparent by the interest shown at the initial meetings that the past history of Cwmbran and surrounding area should be preserved , photographed and recorded for future generations and the people of Cwmbran; the Eastern Valley; Torfaen County Borough; Croesyceiliog & Llanyrafon Community Council together with Cwmbran and Henllys Community Councils.
Since the formation , the Society has held regular monthly meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7.30 p.m. at Cwmbran R.A.F.A. Club 1209, Greenhill Road, Forge Hammer (Nr. Aldi supermarket). We have a guest speaker each month who presents an expert account on his/her chosen subject often accompanied by a slide show. Society members are always encouraged to ask questions and give feedback.
With a well balanced committee who work very hard for the Society. Approaching almost 100 members, subscriptions are currently £6.00 annually.
New members and visitors are always welcome, so why not join us for an evening of history from your area; local quiz; raffle and friendly atmosphere.
